At 1:23 a.m. January 1, Invermere Fire Rescue (IFR) was dispatched to a garbage can on fire in the 1700 block of 4th Avenue.

After extinguishing the fire, evidence of fireworks was found to be the cause of the fire.

We’d like to remind everyone to make sure that everything (fireworks, cigarettes, wood ash, etc.) is completely extinguished and cold before disposing of.
