Obituary of Anna On Na TSE

Anna On Na TSE

1944 ~ 2026 (age 82)

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Anna On Na Tse, 謝安娜, at age 82.  Anna left us peacefully on June 3, 2026 at the end of her journey with dementia.

Born on March 31, 1944 to the late Robert Tsu Man Tse and Stella Yan Lan Ng, Anna grew up in Hong Kong and attended Sacred Heart Canossian College.  Her classmates remember her fondly as a sweet and kind friend.  Anna was also a girl guide and avid pianist.  After graduation, Anna began her career in education by obtaining her Diploma of Education from the Northcote Training College, also known as the Northcote College of Education in Hong Kong.  She taught in several schools before attending university in New Zealand with her younger brother, Andy Kwok Cheong Tse.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of Auckland.  Anna was also a certified gemologist.

On returning to Hong Kong, Anna worked for many years as a school inspector in geography.  When she immigrated to Canada with her mother, she began working at the Pacific Immigrant Resources Society.  Anna enjoyed attending crafting courses with her mother.  Before long, Anna blossomed into a great crafter and knitter, and soon began teaching senior craft and knitting courses at the Hastings Community Centre.  Many of her friends and family have received beautifully knitted booties and toques from Anna over the years.

Anna enjoyed travelling and spending time with her niece, Karen.  In 2021, Anna moved to beautiful Fernie, British Columbia with her two cats, Merlin and Honey Bear, to be closer to Karen.  In Fernie, Anna loved spending time with her grand-nephew, Graeme Austin.  As Anna’s dementia progressed, she became a favourite resident at Rocky Mountain Village.  Anna was known for her warm smile and her penchant for mischievously sneaking away cutlery to hide in her room.

Anna brought unmatched warmth, gentleness and generosity to every interaction.  She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Andy; her sister-in-law, Theresa; her niece, Karen and Karen’s husband, Graeme, and their son, Graeme Austin.  She will also be fondly remembered by many friends and extended family members.

Though she never had children of her own, she loved like a mother and leaves behind a legacy of generosity and joy.  A celebration of Anna’s life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. MST at the Cherished Memory’s Serenity Chapel.  Attendance by Zoom is welcome for out-of-town friends and family members.  A Catholic prayer will follow later that afternoon during mass at the Holy Family Parish at 4 p.m. MST.

The family of Anna wishes to express our sincere thanks to the caring staff at Rocky Mountain Village, Elk Valley Hospital and Dr. Trebble of Sparling East Medical Clinic. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rocky Mountain Village Auxiliary to support long-term care residents, a cause close to Anna’s heart.

Friends and family are welcome to share their memories of Anna and condolences at Anna’s Tribute Wall at
