Steve Marriner stopping in Cranbrook Oct. 14
There are musicians who play the blues, and then there are musicians who sound like they’ve had the blues rattling around in their bones for years.
Steve Marriner is one of those Canadian musicians who seems to have music coming out of every pocket.
A singer, songwriter, producer, harmonica player, guitarist, keyboard player, and multi-instrumentalist, he first made his name as a young blues harp player in Ottawa before becoming a major force in Canadian blues and roots music.
He is also known as a founding member and frontman of MonkeyJunk, whose album To Behold won the 2012 JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year.
Audiences can expect strong vocals, sharp harmonica work, guitar-driven grit, and a bandstand confidence that comes from years of experience. If someone thinks blues is just sad music in a hat, this show may happily wreck that idea for them.
