Valley-wide Valley Pride April 27
If you are in the Columbia Valley on Saturday, April 27 – we want you to volunteer to be a part of our community and pitch-in to clean up our paradise.
Organizers of the annual Valley Pride Community Clean-up have arranged to once again clean up the debris from the past year on roadways and yards and need your help.
This is a full community event, with schools, service groups and community associations taking part to keep our community clean.
You are encouraged to get a group together and help keep our community clean.
This is Canada’s largest annual cleanup campaign – over 622,000 Canadians will participate in Pitch-in Week. For more information, visit www.pitch-in.ca on the web, find it on facebook at /Pitchin.Canada and follow on Twitter @Pitch_In_Canada or contact the Milt Deck at 250-342-3353 or David Gee at 250-342-6480.
The official Pitch-in Week runs from April 21 to 27 – and the valley’s one day blitz on April 27 with every community member on standby to clean up – we ask that you clean up around your home and area in the morning before checking in with us at Invermere’s Pothole Park at 10 a.m. to get sent out to other areas that may need a few more helping hands.
Afterwards, you are invited to join us at Pothole Park for coffee, soft drinks and donuts provided by Tim Hortons. Many thanks to AG Valley Foods and Invermere Sobeys for providing food and drink for all the students who have volunteered to clean up earlier in the week.
Organizers often get asked, ‘Why did you call it Valley Pride?’ Simply put, we live here and take pride in that. According to Wikipedia, pride refers to a satisfied sense of attachment toward one’s own or another’s choices and actions, or toward a whole group of people, and is a product of praise, independent self-reflection, or a fulfilled feeling of belonging.
Think about that. It describes every one of us living/visiting in the area, from Canal Flats to Spillimacheen.
Take some time and Pitch-In – you’ll be glad you did. Join us for the Valley-wide Valley Pride Community Clean up on Saturday, April 27.
