Construction of training facility for CFES continues

Construction work continues this week on the new fire training facility going up at the Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services hall, with delivery of the metal required to finish the project made earlier this week.

The three-storey facility is designed to last 50 years and will assist local firefighters with the necessary training on how to safely enter multi-level structures, from the basement, main or upper level in any number of various potential emergency situations. This type of facility is a standard requirement of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for all fire and emergency service departments across the country.

The building will be erected by a contactor onto a concrete foundation built by Public Works staff earlier this summer. The building will take up to four weeks to complete.

The $415,700 project was approved by council during the 2014 budget deliberations earlier this year.
