RDEK disheartened by mess at Wasa

A picture says 1,000 words the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) pointed out earlier today in a Facebook post showcasing a mess left at the Wasa Transfer Station.

On the heels of fighting a person-caused fire at the Wasa Transfer Station over the weekend, RDEK staff arrived Monday to find almost 100 tires and metal strewn around the site.

“Tires can be returned to numerous locations free of charge and even if they were going to be left there, there is absolutely no excuse for the haphazard disposal seen here. Our staff works very hard to keep the site clean. Every incidence of illegal dumping like this costs all of us and it’s so disheartening to see this kind of behaviour,” the RDEK noted on its Facebook page, which featured these photos.

If you see people illegally dumping or have other concerns, please write down specific details (like time, vehicle and person description, description of behaviour) and if you can get a photo, that would be really helpful too, the regional government asks residents.
