February in the East Kootenay
The best part about February, other than its cute size, is the ‘return of the light’ (if you’re quick).
Day light lasts longer and longer and winter slowly succumbs to the sun. And then it’s back in a flash and we’re reminded that we live in the Rockies and ‘life is subject to change at any moment.’
Bolstering this month’s collection of images of life’s passage in the East Kootenay is an awesome shot of a huge golden having lunch at the “hidden bay Café,” as photographer Jim Watt said. It is our lead image above.
We also have two shots showcasing how busy Kimberley Alpine Resort was courtesy of local photographer Chris Newel.
Apparently central to this collection of photos is wildlife, with elk a-plenty, deer galore and a wily coyote that cruised through our back yard at lunchtime one day. And then there’s Jim’s shot of an eagle about to have lunch… the East Kootenay, take a look around and look at what you see! Love it.
Images were also taken in and around: Cranbrook; Bull River; Canal Flats; Elk Valley; Hosmer; Kimberley Alpine Resort; Kootenay National Park; Lake Windermere; Moyie Lake; Wardner.
