JUNE 28, 1929 – JANUARY 10, 2023

In the Kimberley Special Care Home (the Pines) on the evening of January 10, 2023, Anne DeCosse peacefully passed away with family by her side.

Annie MacKinnon Townsley MacPherson was born June 28 1929 at Copeau Saskatchewan.  She married Gerald DeCosse in Sheridan Manitoba.  Her parents were Martha Townsley MacPherson originally from Glasgow, Scotland and Murdo MacPherson born Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Anne is survived by children: Charles (Lynda); Michael (Tamara); grandchildren Stacy, Michelle (Gordon), Sheldon (Rene), Bryce (Anna), Amber, Angus, Sam. Great grandchildren: Dakota, Cassidy, Ryland, Brielle, Madeline, Christopher, Emma, Angelica and Tristan.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Gerald DeCosse, her son Jim DeCosse, and her daughter Lori Broadhurst. Her siblings are Martha, Euphemia (Effie-Fay), Catherine, Murdina, Malcolm, Charles and many nieces and nephews.

Annie’s parents immigrated to Canada in the mid 1920’s, they were subsistence farmers in Saskatchewan and the skills she learned growing up served her well throughout her life Annie didn’t waste anything, she could cook anything and she could repair or mend anything. Annie travelled to Prince Rupert as a teenager and worked in the fish canning plant, she returned to Porcupine Plain and eventually joined a friend working in the kitchens at the Sheridan Mine in Manitoba. She met and married Gerry and they moved to Kimberley to raise a family.  As well as raising a family, Annie was the record keeper for Meadowbrook Water Works for years, she worked in the Pines for 10 years and she liked to play cards with friends. The year she turned 90 she moved into the Pines.

We would like to thank all the staff at the Pines (Kimberley Special Care Home) for the exceptional care Anne received during her stay.

There will be a family gathering to honour Anne at a later date.
