Obituary of Brenda Maureen Belding
Brenda Maureen Belding
We say goodbye to a beautiful, loving, caring, honest, generous, kind and gentle lady who enjoyed life and had a wonderful sense of humour.
Maureen was born on December 27, 1936, second child to Lillian and George Harrison of Nottingham, England. In 1960 Maureen married Doug Howg. In that same
year they moved to Courtney, BC, where their eldest son Steve was born. In the years to follow, Dale their second son, and Julie their only daughter was added and completed
their family. In 1971 they moved to Cranbrook, where they chose to live the remainder of their lives.
Maureen and Bryan began their life together in 1987. They loved their summers together at their little piece of heaven on Lake Koocanusa where they made many friends
and countless happy memories. Winters were enjoyed with trips south and especially those spent in Mexico until Bryans passing in 2018.
She worked most of her career as a Claims Adjudicator at the Employment Center in Cranbrook. After her retirement she continued her friendship with many of her co-workers and always spoke fondly of the years of her employment there.
Maureen will be remembered for her fabulous ability to cook a gourmet meal, her love of gardening, and her immaculate home. Other interests included reading, walking, downhill skiing, knitting, and doing puzzles.
She will be missed immensely by her sons Steve Howg, Dale (Rose) Howg, daughter Julie Smith, stepdaughter Jennifer (Sean) Cadden, sister Lyn (Dennis) Whitehead, brother John Harrison,
grandchildren Michael, Tommy, and Dixie, greatgrandchildren MacKenzie, Tavin, and Oasys, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the third-floor staff at East Kootenay Regional Hospital for the wonderful care given to Mom during her last days.
We would also like to recognize the Cranbrook and Kimberley Hospice Society for all that they represent.
A Memorial Gathering will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the home of Dale & Rose Howg, 1226th AVE S, Cranbrook, British Columbia
