Local business keeps going, growing and giving back

Local business owner Elizabeth Shopland has enjoyed giving back to the community in a variety of ways as she celebrates 10 years in business and over 18 years as a Columbia Valley resident.

Banyan Tree Solutions is a multi-branched business whose services carry the underlying theme of nature inspired living.  In the early spring of this year, one of her business branches, Homefront Essentials Gardening, volunteered at the local community Groundswell greenhouse as it prepared for the spring growing season. Later in the season, the gardening staff went on to volunteer over 60 hours to assist the local Family Resource Centre and the Rotarians’ Four Corners project.  Part of the business vision is ‘to support our communities to nurture and connect to the natural world we live in.’

The guiding vision for the second branch of Shopland’s business is to ‘To nurture and inspire the human spirit.’ For over 15 years, Elizabeth (pictured above)  has been passionate about pursuing training in the personal development field and has participated in over a dozen training programs around North America.  In 2009, she became a certified Solution Focused Coach through Erickson College, B.C. Since then, Shopland has supported coaching clients throughout the valley, worked with the College of the Rockies and this year she provided a number of opportunities for community members to receive complimentary coaching sessions.

In October of this year, she requested one of the premier personal growth and development companies, Klemmer and Associates, to come to the valley and offer two training workshops for the valley residents. Why bring in a big company to do the training? She explains, “Often to get better results in our personal and professional lives, we need to improve our own personal leadership. After participating in four of Klemmer and Associate’s programs, I believe we can all use professional support to get better results in a shorter amount of time.”

Banyan Tree Solutions will be offering five complimentary tickets to the Klemmer and Associates evening workshop in January 2013 at Copper Point Resort. Later in February, Klemmer and Associates will return to Copper Point Resort to facilitate a Personal Mastery Weekend. Contact Elizabeth Shopland 250-342-8978 for more information, tickets and registration for both events. Tickets for the Champion’s Workshop  are also available at The Book Bar in Invermere.

“I wish to thank the community for all of their support over the past 10 years and I look forward to the next 10 years of serving the valley!”

One final note, Shopland will also add published author to her business offerings. Her novel, ‘The S.a.g.e. Garden’ will be released in June 2013.
