Evening market draws crowd

The  Cranbrook Farmers’ Market – evening version – was a smash success if the size of last night’s crowd was any indication.

While the Saturday version of the market is the tried and true model, taking over 10th Ave. beside Rotary Park, the Wednesday evening event spread through the ample shade of the downtown park.

And thanks to the beautiful summer eve July 27, hundreds of people crammed the pathways in the park to take in the sights, sounds and savory smells.

From hula-hoopers to grassroots music to good old fashioned bumping into and catching up with friends and neighbours, the market provided a colourful snapshot of life in Cranbrook and the Kootenays, as numerous vendors hailed from all corners of the East Kootenay.

Children made the most of the Rotary Park playground and water park, while adults idled from one vendor’s tent and table to the next, finding unique art and crafts, baked goods, organic produce, tasty snacks and more.

The Cranbrook Farmers’ Market runs each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Sept. 17.
