Sparwood Council Facts
District of Sparwood council Jan. 7 approved a Development Variance Permit to vary a section of the Zoning Bylaw to provide for a 1.52m rear yard instead of 7.62m rear yard at 602 Sparwood Drive subject to an approved landscaping plan. The applicant intends to build a one-storey vehicle repair garage in the northeast corner of the subject property.
Community Energy and Emissions Plan
Megan Lohman from BC Hydro attended the meeting to provide council with an overview of the District of Sparwood’s Community Energy and Emissions Plan and Model. A community energy and emissions plan evaluates a community’s existing energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in order to reduce energy consumption and emissions, improve efficiency, and increase the local renewable energy supply. This action plan will help the district reach their GHG emission reduction target of two tonnes per capita by 2020.
