Elk Valley RCMP have reported that on January 4 they arrested a Sparwood resident for possession of child pornography.

Police stated they concluded a complex investigation with the execution of a search warrant on a Sparwood residence Jan. 4. The search resulted in the seizure of a large amount of computer equipment and electronic storage devices.

The Elk Valley RCMP worked closely with investigators from the RCMP Child Exploitation Unit from Vancouver over the past couple of months leading up to this search. As a result of the investigation and the subsequent search, a 21-year-old Sparwood resident was taken into custody and has been charged with possessing child pornography.
