Eagle Ranch Golf Resort’s 2025 golf season teed off on April 25, and with it came a new, exclusive experience for golfers in the Canadian Rockies—the launch of its Caddie Program, one of only a handful in Canada.

The Caddie Program was designed to provide a true and authentic golf experience. It gives the golfer an opportunity to walk the course and feel the turf while receiving strategic advice about the course.

Booking with a caddie guarantees a highly sought-after morning tee time before the heat of the day sets in, as the first two hours of every day are dedicated caddie tee times.

Eagle Ranch is known for its pristine conditions and outstanding views of Invermere and the Columbia Valley, one of the many reasons it’s landed a spot on SCOREGolf’s 2024 Top 100 Golf Courses in Canada list. It’s also challenging and demands a different kind of shot.

 “That’s a prime example of where a caddie can really impact your game,” said Steve Deschenes, the resort’s new golf pro. “As the great Ben Hogan once said, ‘the most important shot in golf is your next one.’ Caddies have knowledge of the course and its nuances that an amateur golfer may not otherwise observe.”

The resort first planned to implement the program at the start of the 2020 season, but COVID-19 brought a screeching halt to their plans. The industry has grown significantly since then, with more people taking up the sport for the first time.

“Our caddies are passionate about golf, so there are some obvious benefits they can provide in terms of improving your score,” added Deschenes. “But beyond that, they bring a sense of camaraderie—celebrating your successes and sharing in your frustrations … it’s one of the purest ways to play the game.”

Eagle Ranch (pictured) is one of 11 stops on the Columbia Valley Golf Trail, and the only one with a Caddie Program. While all courses in the area are unique in their own way, Eagle Ranch stands out by offering five-star guest experiences like this one.
