Watermain flushing begins in DOI March 27
The District of Invermere is alerting residents to the start of its spring water system flushing on March 27, with the work running to May 5.
Carried out twice yearly, the work “is necessary to maintain the quality of our water supply,” the district said in a public notice.
“There may be some short interruptions in the water service and temporary discolouration of water as a result of the sediment and organic materials that are being flushed from the water mains,” the district noted.
“During this period, disinfection by chlorination will be continued. To assist the public works department during the flushing operation, users are advised that if they experience persistent discolouration or odour problems with the water, to immediately notify the municipal office and explain the nature of the problem.”
