Lone regional fire under control
BC Wildfire Service this morning (June 30) reports the lone wildfire burning in the East Kootenay is under control.
Discovered June 28, a fire near Crooks Meadow in Kootenay National Park, which grew to .20 hectares, is believed to have been ignited by lightning,
Meanwhile, an Environment Canada heat warning remains in effect due to a “dangerous long duration heat wave” covering the entire region and beyond.
Daytime highs are expected to range from 36 to 44 degrees celsius combined with overnight lows of 18 to 24 degrees celsius. Humidex values will reach the low to mid 40s.
