The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure invites the public to attend upcoming information sessions in Radium Hot Springs and Golden to discuss traffic management planning for the final phase of the Kicking Horse Canyon Project.

Project staff will be on hand to answer questions and share information about tentative plans and timelines for traffic management during construction.

This includes non-peak closures of Highway 1 and the use of Highway 93/95 as a detour.

Full highway closures during non-peak periods will be needed for the safety of workers and the travelling public, and to ensure the project is completed in a timely manner.

Representatives from BC Infrastructure Benefits will attend both sessions to answer questions and provide information related to employment and apprenticeship opportunities with this project through the Community Benefits Agreement.

These information sessions follow significant consultation with numerous community groups, including Indigenous communities, local government, the tourism industry, the business community, the school district and emergency services.

The sessions will help inform the final traffic management plan, which will be refined later this year.

The public is invited to two information sessions:

Radium Hot Springs

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 29; Time: 4 to 8 p.m. Location: Radium Hot Springs Community Centre, 4863 Stanley St.

Golden

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 30; Time: 4 to 8 p.m. Location: Golden Civic Centre, 806 – 10th Ave. S.
