A drop of water can be a drink, a game, a memory, a problem, or a whole world, depending on who’s holding it.
Water Words is a thoughtful and beautifully made production from Théâtre Motus and Djarama, created with artists from three countries across two continents.
The story follows two friends, Mamby and Hélène. One lives in Senegal, where water must be carried. The other lives in Canada, where snow, ice, and running water are part of everyday life. Same planet. Very different daily reality.
On stage, water becomes the main character. Spring water, well water, salt water, rainwater, snow, and ice are brought to life through performance, music, movement, puppets, props, and imagination.
Instead of using real water on stage, the creators use fabrics and materials to honour the theme while creating a visual world that feels poetic and inventive.
