At the Library

By Mike Selby

Cranbrook Public Library

Penrose Halson tells the amazing true story of how two 24-year-olds operated a surprisingly successful match-making service during the Second World War in ‘The Marriage Bureau.’

A young woman navigates her daily existence within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts in John Green’s long awaited ‘Turtles All the Way Down.’

Preschool Story Time is this Wednesday at 11 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and Toddler Story Time is 10 and 11 a.m. Both will be all about ‘Love.’ Baby Laptime Thursday at 10 a.m.

Please note there is always a Wednesday evening Story Time at 6:30 p.m. for ages three to nine and their caregivers. Perfect way to unwind.

Stop by the Manual Training School (adjacent to the Library) and check out the Friends’ Audio Visual & Magazine Sale. There’s a great selection of magazines, DVDs, CDs and audiobooks as well as books on cooking, comedy and history. Harlequins, book bundles and Children’s picture books and readers are for sale also.  Friends’ members may attend on Friday, Feb. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Everyone is welcome on Saturday, Feb. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Your donations for this event are most welcome. We are accepting DVDs, CDs, Audio Books, Records and Cassettes of all ages as well as magazines published within the last three years (2015 and newer).  Books are accepted year round.  Please bring these items to the circulation desk in the library.  Here’s your chance to declutter your home and help the Friends help the Library.  For info call Marilyn at 250-489-6254.

On display this month is the amazing and beautiful embroidery of Gladys Quackenbush.
