City easing load restrictions in municipality

Effective Monday, April 27, the City of Cranbrook will ease all load restrictions on municipal roads, unless otherwise signed and indicated, in conjunction with improved road strength indications coming from its provincial counterparts with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

All drivers and equipment operators are asked to obey load restriction signage on some streets that will continue to be restricted due to low strength or poor condition.

Commercial trucks are still subject to the city’s Street and Traffic Bylaw, which stipulates load weight and size restrictions and includes a truck route map for applicable vehicles and loads. That bylaw can be found here.

The City of Cranbrook and its Public Works Department thanks all industry partners who complied with the load restriction measures.
