Community Theatre benefits from BC Hydro funding

BC Hydro is providing a $2,000 grant to the Cranbrook Community Theatre Society to support a project promoting energy efficiency.

These funds are being delivered through BC Hydro’s Community Grant program, which helps local organizations that are committed to making a difference in their communities.

With their award, the Cranbrook Community Theatre will upgrade 232 incandescent bulbs to LED lights, replace 11 light fixtures and seven switches located throughout the Stage Door Theatre.

This will save about 13,000 kilowatt hours a year, helping the society save nearly $1,500 in annual electricity costs. Reducing energy costs will allow the society to contribute more towards their community programs.

Last year, BC Hydro contributed $55,000 to East Kootenay non-profits, registered charities and community organizations.
