Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) April 30 to 6 a.m., May 7.
Police handled 161 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
Two impaired driving: (alcohol).
Two collisions in the city: There was a fatality crash on Highway 3/95 (East Kootenay Traffic Services taking lead on that file.) The other collision involved an elderly gentleman who took out a light standard and came to rest against a tanker truck. The driver suffered non life threatening injuries and was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Seven assaults: One assault at a local high school/ an assault and utter threats between group of teenage females/ two incidents of assault by youth on their parents/ an assault at a local establishment between parties known to each other/ a fight between relatives resulted in a broken nose/ and one assault complaint was unfounded.
Six Mental Health Act related calls: Two assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
Seven thefts.
One theft from auto: attempted, nothing stolen.
Four thefts other: Theft of tools from the Prestige Inn, suspect male arrested and charged; one theft of purse from the hospital; one theft unfounded and one theft from an apartment.
Two thefts of bicycles: A Gina Anthem wit 29” wheels and white in colour stolen off a vehicle, worth $4,000; and a dark purple Garry Fischer Mountain Bike stolen from a backyard.
Two break and enters to residences: one was unfounded, involving a drunk male who walked into a wrong house and fell asleep; and one was attempted but nothing was stolen.
Seven damage to property: reports varying from vehicles, shed and house damage.
