Let there be rock!

The 2020 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship and the BC Men’s Curling Championship are underway at Cranbrook’s Western Financial Place.

Running Jan. 28 to Feb. 2, the 2020 BC Championships feature a local rink – Team Medford, playing out of the Cranbrook Curling Centre, featuring Skip Chris Medford, Third Steve Tersmette, Second: Mitch Young and Lead: Jeff Langin.

The nationally televised bonspiel held a grand opening last night, Jan. 28, featuring the Kimberley Pipe Band and emcee Dennis Walker welcomed teams from across B.C.

The procession held some great curlers from previous tournaments including Kootenay East MLA Tom Shypitka, whose team threw the ceremonial first stone. City of Cranbrook Mayor Lee Pratt was also on hand to help ope the games as well as Curl BC.

Pictured below includes scenes from Game 1 for Team Medford: Draw 3 set Medford against Team Wenzek and they squeaked out the win 7-6, moving them forward in the tournament.
