Movember in full swing around region

It seems everywhere you look right now, there are men sporting lip coverings of varying style, thickness and flair.

It’s not because there is a sweeping fashion trend taking men back to the turn of the 19th Century – it’s because it is November.

In the past few years, November has become ‘Mo-vember’ as hundreds of thousands of men across North America take steps to support prostate cancer awareness and male health issues.

One initiative in Fernie blends the delights of fresh baked delights with mustache growing. The Loaf Bakery, which recently celebrated its grand opening at its new home at 641-2nd Avenue.

The Movember & Sons Help Fund is on hand for folks to make donations and with each dollar donated, bakery owner Phil Gadd will match. Head on in, take a great big whiff of the myriad of delicious scents and help Phil get-a-matching!

Regionally there are numerous initiatives taking place, including local Mounties, who are raising funds and we encourage folks to back a ‘stache-grower and help out wherever possible.

In the Columbia Valley, from S/Sgt. Marko Shehovac: To date we are over $1,000 but still have lots of time to go to this web site http://mobro.co/columbiavalleyrcmp   and make a donation. Reach our goal and I am going to color streak some of the hair I have left.

Kimberley RCMP Detachment: Please support the members and/or their team in raising the awareness, by donating at; http://ca.movember.com/team/605085 .

In Cranbrook, why not support this fine fella? http://ca.movember.com/mospace/5235281
