Sam Steele Days postponed

The Sam Steele Days Society board of directors April 15 met via Zoom, and after discussion revolving around the COVID-19 pandemic, agreed to postpone the 2020 Sam Steele Days festival planned for June 19 – 21.

“It takes many volunteers and weeks of preparation time to hold the festival and under these conditions we cannot plan the festival at any level,” said Sam Steele Society chair Carrie Schafer.

“We are hoping to hold the festival later in the summer if conditions improve,” she added.

Sweetheart Ambassador program participants are continuing their program virtually for now in hopes for a pageant at a later date, noted organizer Karin Penner.

Sam Steele Days is the largest annual community festival in the Kootenays, combining sports tournaments, arts and entertainment and a dozens of other fun and fascinating events, including the always colourful Sam Steele Days Parade (pictured).
