Shredders pick up where they left off
The competitive wakeboarding season is well underway and Cranbrook brothers Ryder and Dagen Duczek (also known as the Lil Shredders) continue to see success on the water.
The first event of the season saw the boys riding state side at the INT League Northwest Division Tour Stop in Hauser Lake, Idaho.
Dagen took first place in Junior Boys Wakeboarding, while Ryder captured second place. It was the reverse in the wake surf division, as Ryder snagged first and Dagen took second.
“We had good water and I managed to land some big grabs,” says Dagen, nine, of his first place run.
The next stop saw the boys competing in the Water Ski and Wakeboard Alberta Tour Stop in Pine Lake, Alberta where once again they put in solid rides.
Ryder captured the gold medal and Dagen took the silver in the Intermediate Wakeboard Division. Ryder captured his second gold of the day in the Intermediate Surf, while Dagen finished just out of medal contention in fourth.
“It was an awesome day and definitely another battle of the bros in the wakeboard division,” said Ryder, 11.
They are proud to be sponsored by Hyperlite, Just Liquid Sports and Boston Pizza (Cranbrook/Golden). “We are both very proud to represent our sponsors and thank them for their support and for believing in us,” say the boys.
The Duczek brothers ride and train in the Jaffray area at Tie Lake and will have tour stops in B.C., Alberta and the U.S. before the end of the summer.
