Smile Cookie Campaign marks 10th year

This year marks the 10th year of the Tim Hortons annual Smile Cookie Campaign to support healthcare throughout the East Kootenay.

From September 12-18 when you purchase a $1 Smile Cookie at both Cranbrook locations, Tim Hortons donates $1 towards a new permanent MRI at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Over the past 10 years Tim Hortons has raised over $110,000 towards improving our local healthcare.

“It is great to see what our team at Tim Hortons and amazing customers can do in ten years to improve healthcare for the East Kootenay. We are thrilled mark this milestone year with proceeds going to the permanent MRI at East Kootenay Regional Hospital. This is a much needed piece of equipment that will help not only my staff and customers, but their families and neighbours. We look forward to a great Smile Cookie Campaign this year and encourage everyone to come down and purchase a Smile Cookie for the MRI,” said Matt Gareau, owner of Tim Hortons.

Currently the East Kootenay region has access to the Mobile MRI unit for one week per month, sharing this unit with Trail and Penticton. The limited access to the Mobile unit has meant long wait times and in many instances patient travel outside the region to access MRI services in Kelowna or Calgary.

“The addition of the MRI at East Kootenay Regional Hospital will make it a truly regional hospital, and we are thrilled to have Tim Horton’s continued support to help our hospital complete the vision set out years ago,” said Cassandra Schwarz, East Kootenay Foundation for Health Executive Director.
