BC Registries and Online Services is making choosing a name easier through the new streamlined Name Request application, which allows would-be and current business owners to search whether potential names are already taken.

Previously, this process could take more than a month if multiple name submissions were needed.

BC Registries and Online Services is also improving digital services for people by replacing and improving the aging applications used for BC Online, the Corporate, Personal Property and Manufactured Homes registries. User testing and feedback will inform regular updates to the online applications, including self-serve access, new accounts and payment options.

New credential requirements will make online registry transactions more secure and help registry services keep pace with technological advancements and increased demand for online programs and services.

Together, the changes being made to BC Registries and Online Services make it easier, faster and more secure for people and businesses to complete online transactions and filings, manage accounts and pay for services, a Ministry of Citizens’ Services media release noted.
