Community Futures BC program receives national award
Community Futures British Columbia (CFBC) is pleased to announce that its Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program (EDP) has received the Community Impact Award at REACH: The National Forum for Disabled Entrepreneurship, a national event hosted by the Inclusive Workplace and Supply Council of Canada (IWSCC).
The Community Impact Award recognizes organizations making a meaningful difference in advancing accessibility, inclusion, and entrepreneurship opportunities for people with disabilities. This recognition highlights the role of inclusive economic development in reducing barriers and expanding pathways to business ownership.
“This recognition reflects the work happening across Community Futures offices throughout British Columbia to support entrepreneurs facing barriers to traditional employment and business development,” said Brandi Butts, Project Manager, Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program. “It is an honour to see the impact of the program recognized nationally.”
The Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program helps British Columbians with disabilities or ongoing health conditions pursue self-employment and small business ownership. Programming supports business coaching, planning, training, mentorship, and access to financing opportunities.
Delivered by CFBC, the program is designed to help entrepreneurs build viable businesses with services tailored to their needs.
Community Futures BC also acknowledges the ongoing support of Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan), whose investment in the Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program helps strengthen accessible entrepreneurship supports for people with disabilities in British Columbia.
For many people, entrepreneurship offers flexibility, independence, and the opportunity to build a livelihood that aligns with their unique circumstances and strengths. This award underscores the importance of continuing to create more inclusive and accessible business ecosystems across the province.
