Cranbrook area hit with over 45 cm of snow over weekend

The Cranbrook area received over 45 cm of snowfall from Friday’s and Saturday’s weather event.

The temperatures dropped quickly resulting in compact road conditions throughout the Cranbrook area, Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting noted today in an update on area roads.

“Our crews are currently out with serrated blades on our plow trucks and on the graders to remove the compact, we are also applying winter abrasive material where needed.

“Once the temperatures rise, we will be applying de – icing material to the compact to break it up and remove it from the roadways,” Mainroad reported.

“Please give our crews a safe distance to work, please do not pass snowplows on the right. Please use caution, drive to the conditions, and prepare for delays caused by the weather. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for further updates.”
