Nationals gold for EKVC U16 boys

By Spencer Gustar

The East Kootenay Volleyball Club (EKVC) U16 boys were proud to win the Division 2 Tier 2 gold medal at Nationals over the May long weekend in Calgary at the Olympic Oval.

The team faced some of the best volleyball they have seen the entire season, and held their own against the top teams in Division 2.

They came out on top at the end of day one, going undefeated in their pool. Day two held some tougher matches in power pools, but the boys came together to come back and win after being down seven points.

On the final day, the U16s won a tough semi-final match, and won their final against the Lethbridge Volleyball Club in two quick sets. The team faced both mental and physical struggles over the entirety of the weekend, but in the end they made themselves, their coaches and their parents extremely proud.
