RDEK releases Candidate Guidebook ahead of elections
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) has released a new Candidate Guidebook to support residents interested in running for an electoral area director position in the upcoming local government elections on Saturday, October 17.
The guidebook is designed to help prospective candidates better understand the local government election process, including nominations, key requirements, and other important information for those considering serving their community through elected office.
The new guidebook is available on the RDEK’s election information website at engage.rdek.bc.ca/elections, which has also been launched as a central source of election-related information for residents throughout the 2026 election period.
In addition to candidate resources, the website will include important dates, voting details, elector eligibility information, and ongoing updates as they become available. Whether residents are planning to vote, thinking about running for office, or simply looking to stay informed, they are encouraged to visit the site regularly in the months ahead.
“Local government plays an important role in shaping the future of our communities, and we want to make sure residents have access to clear, helpful information whether they are considering running for office or preparing to cast their ballot,” said Corporate Officer Tina Hlushak.
“The Candidate Guidebook and election website are intended to give people the tools they need to better understand the process and participate with confidence.”
More election information will continue to be added to the website in the coming months.
