Snowy peaks means the return of avalanches
Parks Canada Mountain Safety department is reminding those who enjoy exploring the backcountry to be mindful of the return of avalanche season.
“Snowy peaks serve as a reminder that winter is practically here, and with winter comes avalanche season. Many areas in the mountains are subject to avalanche hazards,” Parks Canada stated on social media.
“With fresh snow blanketing higher altitudes, it’s paramount to integrate avalanche safety into your decision-making process. Should you venture into terrain with potential avalanche hazards, ensure you carry essential safety gear – a shovel, probe, and wear a transceiver. Embrace preparedness and prioritize safety above all else!”
