Wood waste burn occurring at Tie Lake Transfer Station

Residents in the vicinity of the Tie Lake Transfer Station may see smoke today as the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) will be burning the wood waste pile as part of normal operations.

There will be a contractor on site with a water truck and equipment. They will monitor the work closely and will remain on site overnight.

The wood waste pile at the Canal Flats Transfer Station will also be burned in the next few days. Timing will depend on whether conditions and the venting index.
