Electoral Area B Volunteer of the Year honoured

Heather Serafini has been officially recognized as the 2022 Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) Electoral Area B Volunteer of the Year.

“Heather truly gives her whole heart to her community and has been instrumental in organizing dozens of programs for youth and their families in our area. There are few who have been untouched by her kindness,” said Area B Director Stan Doehle.

An outstanding 4-H leader and administrator for the program, Heather has devoted countless hours at the provincial and federal levels, the local South Country Craft and Critters 4-H Club, as well as the East Kootenay District. From speaking competitions to bottle drives, community meals to the district summer camp at Rock Lake, Heather’s organizational talents have been put to good and frequent use.

Heather has been tireless in her efforts to help those around her, and this extends to medical needs as well. She helps with medications, a sympathetic ear, and takes special care of the older population in the area. She is beloved by her community and personifies the Mission Statement of the Triangle Women’s Institute, of which she is a member, “To build a better tomorrow for family and community.”

Director Doehle formally recognized Serafini at an event at Pioneer Hall in Grasmere on August 24.
