Abstract Thoughts at The Arts Station
Peggy Black retired to Fernie in 2013 after 30 years of owning and managing a large women’s wear store in Regina, Saskatchewan. Diplomas in both Fashion Design and Interior Design have given her grounding in her artistic endeavours.
She and her husband joined The Arts Station shortly after landing here. Meeting other artists and volunteering in various Arts Station activities awakened her interest in creating art.
A search for some dramatic black and white modern art inspired her to create her own, and ‘Abstract Thoughts’ emerged.
For each piece, creativity plus much experimentation are peppered with a good bit of luck. During the process, pieces are turned and angled between layers to achieve a pleasing result. Many are excluded at this point! Knowing when to layer and, quite simply, when to quit are keys to success. Simplicity of design, dramatic effects and a good eye for balance all work together to create each compelling image.
Abstract Thoughts opens in the Gallery January 5 at 7 p.m.
