Live trap set for aggressive bear in Max Turyk area

City of Fernie Bylaw Services is working with the B.C. Conservation Officer Service and WildSafeBC Elk Valley to respond to an aggressive bear in the area behind Max Turyk school and sports fields.

User groups at Max Turyk have been notified and a live trap has been set up.

The public is asked to please avoid the area.

Please remember that there are a lot of hungry bears out right now looking for food. It is important that all attractants are secured to reduce conflict with bears.

The City of Fernie Waste Regulation Bylaw prohibits garbage cans from being placed out before 5am on collection day.

Bylaw Services will be issuing tickets to homeowners that are not adhering to these regulations.
