Man arrested after pointing firearm at restaurant employee

On Thursday, December 23, shortly after 8 a.m., police were called to a Fernie restaurant after it was reported that a man had pointed a handgun at an employee.

Elk Valley RCMP immediately responded and discovered that a man walked by the drive thru lane, pointed a handgun at the employee, and left without further incident.

Video surveillance was examined and police were able to identify the suspect, a Fernie man, who was arrested a short time later. The handgun was determined to be a pellet gun.

“This investigation is ongoing and charges could may result,” said Cpl. Dan Hay of Elk Valley RCMP.
