FireSmart information session planned for Hosmer

An introductory information session will be held in Hosmer in early July and the East Kootenay FireSmart Program is hoping for a strong turnout.

“Given the back-to-back fire seasons we’ve seen in the last couple of years, it’s important for residents to look for ways to make their homes and properties more fire resilient. FireSmart can help come communities come together and work toward that goal,” said Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) Interface Fire Prevention Officer Thomas Dobbin.

“This session is open to everyone, and we encourage you to come and learn more about how we can support you in your efforts to be FireSmart.”

The information session will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 9 at the Hosmer Fire Hall.

It will include information on the East Kootenay FireSmart Program, FireSmart resources, and an opportunity for a question-and-answer period with a local FireSmart representative.

The FireSmart Program offers clear guidelines and simple steps that the public can take to make their homes and properties more fire resilient.
