Downtown development electronic hearing June 1

The City of Kimberley is holding an electronic public hearing Monday, June 1, to allow the public opportunity to comment on a proposed rezoning to accommodate a mixed-use development with 42 residential units and eight commercial units for a property at 49 Deer Park Avenue.

The property in question is the old Watkins High School site.

The electronic public hearing for Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2663 will be held Monday, June 1 at 7 p.m.

Bylaw No. 2663 (Amendment No. 144 to Bylaw 1850) proposes to rezone the property from the Multiple Family Residential with Minor Commercial Zone: R3-A zone to the Commercial: C-1 zone and to replace the existing R3-A zone with a new Multiple Family Residential: R3-A zone for the purposes of constructing a mixed-use development with 42 residential units and 8 commercial units,” city bylaw information outlined.

More information about the proposed zoning change and development plan is available HERE. You may indicate your support or opposition to the proposed zoning amendment by providing written comments in advance of the hearing or you may provide oral submissions by telephone during the hearing. The hearing will be live-streamed and available for anyone to listen.

Call-in submission during the meeting: Please call 1-800-741-7180 by 6:50 p.m. to register into meeting number (access code) 969-652-115, when asked for attendee number simply enter the “#” symbol. You will be able to hear the meeting but you will be on hold and muted until it is your turn to speak.
