Home-scale solar power discussion March 8

The Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook branch is proud to partner with OTG Power Solutions and Grow Tea & Elixir Corner for another edition of Wildsight’s Wild Ideas in Kimberley. On March 8, at 7 p.m., join the branch for an enlightening discussion on home-scale solar power.

This won’t be the first place you’ve heard this: conversion to clean energy sources is a critical step in combatting climate change. But is that so important in a province where most of the power generated comes from hydroelectric dams? In fact, B.C. is a net importer of electricity, and most of that imported power is produced at coal-fired power plants in neighbouring Alberta. Our electricity may not be as clean and green as you think.

The good news? In Kimberley and Cranbrook, we are lucky to have about 315 days of annual access to a trusted renewable power resource: the sun! Better yet, solar power technologies are becoming more affordable for the average homeowner. At this Wild Ideas, learn from Ebon Smylie of OTG Power Solutions about the systems available to us here and how they can be integrated into our buildings. Get inspired to get off, or to charge up, the grid!

Wild Ideas is a free event, open to all members of the public. Co-hosts Grow Tea & Elixir Corner will be offering a food and drink special for the event. For more information, contact the Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook office at [email protected], 250-427-2535.

Learn more Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at Grow Tea & Elixir Corner, 255 Wallinger Avenue, Kimberley.
