Slopes for Hope returns Feb. 8

Slopes for Hope has rapidly become on of Kimberley’s top charitable fundraising events of the year.

SFH Calgary FriendsIn the past three years the event has raised $95,000 and organizers for the fourth annual event, February 8 at Kimberley Alpine Resorts and the Kimberley Nordic Club/Trails, are hoping to raise $30,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The Kimberley and District Chamber of Commerce is a strong supporter of Slopes for Hope and members are being encouraged to take part in the event.

“Any chamber members who would like to field a team, either in cross-country or downhill is encouraged to contact Mike at the chamber office,” notes the chamber’s most recent members’ update.

This year’s event has two new challenges, including Nordic skiers.

Free transportation is available to the Nordic Centre by Simply Kimberley.

SFH RDEKAlso breakfast and a barbecue lunch are included in event fee.

Also, this year there will be a head shave for Jenna Homeniuk to be done at 3 p.m. Saturday and organizers are looking for volunteers to chop their locks!
