Sheep Patrol going full-time until end of April
The Help the Radium Bighorn Sheep campaign reports the Radium Hill sheep patrol will be seven days a week from now until the end of April with two controllers on Fridays.
“This is a massive proactive step forward by MOTI to keep the Radium herd safe until winter’s end,” the Help the Radium Bighorn Herd stated on social media.
“But sheep patrol in flashing trucks with signs is not a wildlife overpass. Last Friday, three sheep were still struck by vehicles on Radium hill though luckily they were able to scramble away — one in the morning, one in the early afternoon, and one late afternoon.
“One impact was spotted by sheep patrol. The other two were spotted by passersby. No bodies have been found and we can only hope the sheep are not severely injured or dead.”
The Slow Your Roll Save The Sheep Driver Awareness Campaign is as important as ever!
Buy your hoodies/T-shirts/bumper stickers at www.SaveTheSheep.ca
All proceeds from your purchases will go to the overpass fundraiser. And/or make a direct donation to the overpass and get a tax receipt at www.SlowYourRoll.ca
“The government has committed to building the overpass but a construction start date hasn’t been announced since funding has not been finalized. The overpass fundraiser is to encourage the government to prioritize funding and building this wildlife structure essential for saving the Radium Bighorn herd and all surrounding wildlife. How cool will it be to look at that overpass one day and know that you directly contributed to building it?”
