Lakeview Washroom Groundbreaking Ceremony held

On January 26, the District of Invermere celebrated the official groundbreaking ceremony at the Lakeview Washrooms with Mayor Al Miller and Councillor Grant Kelly.

These upgrades to the facility were made possible thanks to generous support from the BC Active Transportation Grant Program, covering 70% of the project.

The refreshed facility will include:

  • Additional stalls to better serve busy summer days and community events;
  • Solar panels for clean, renewable energy;
  • A water bottle refill station;
  • E‑bike charging;
  • Bike parking and a bike‑servicing station;
  • Shade sail above the bike parking on the concrete pad.

These improvements help support active transportation, reduce congestion, and make it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy downtown on foot or by bike.

We anticipate the washrooms will reopen to the public April 30. In the meantime, portable toilets will be available next door, so facilities remain accessible.

A huge thank you to the B.C. Government for funding support, and an even bigger thank you to the citizens of Invermere. Your feedback, commitment, and community spirit help make Invermere the vibrant and welcoming place we all love.

Here’s to better public spaces and a greener future!
