The Fernie Transfer Station will be closed for scheduled maintenance from 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, until approximately 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17.

“Included in the maintenance will be grading and repairs to the main road into the site, which requires the closure of the facility,” said Brian De Paoli, Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) Environmental Services Foreman.

“We would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding while this scheduled maintenance is completed and encourage anyone needing transfer station services during this time to use the Sparwood facility.”

During the closure, residents may use the Sparwood Transfer Station, located at 1001 Highway 3, south of Sparwood, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
