On June 22, Elk Valley RCMP received a report of a man with a knife attempting to force his way into a residence in Sparwood. Witnesses nearby heard the man shouting and threatening residents inside a home.

Frontline officers arrived on scene shortly after the report was received.

The man was located and arrested without incident and was brought to Sparwood RCMP detachment cells while the investigation was conducted and all available evidence gathered.

Charges are pending further investigation and subsequent assessment by the BC Prosecution Service.

The incident appears to have been an isolated incident with no apparent risk to the community.
