Helping homeowners improve comfort, reduce energy use
Twenty-five workshops will be offered in Basin communities this fall
Homeowners will have access to practical information and hands-on learning opportunities this fall through free Home Energy Efficiency Workshops being offered in 25 communities throughout the region.
The workshops are being delivered by the Community Energy Association on behalf of Columbia Basin Trust to help residents better understand how energy is used in their homes and identify practical ways to improve comfort and energy efficiency.
Running from September 8 to October 22, the workshops will provide homeowners with easy-to-understand information about low-cost improvements, everyday habits that can reduce energy use, and resources available for larger home retrofit projects.
“Residents have told us they’re looking for practical information about improving home comfort and energy efficiency, but it can be difficult to know where to start,” said Ulli Mueller, Senior Manager, Delivery of Benefits, Columbia Basin Trust.
“Through this partnership with Community Energy Association, we’re bringing expert-led workshops to communities across the Basin so homeowners can understand their options and make informed decisions about future home improvements.”
Each workshop will include live demonstrations, practical take-home resources and guidance from energy efficiency experts. Participants will learn:
- Where energy is commonly lost in the home.
- Simple behaviour changes that can improve comfort and reduce energy use.
- Low-cost DIY improvements that are easy to implement.
- Practical tips for making noticeable improvements quickly.
- How to access rebates and additional resources for larger retrofit projects.
The workshops are free to attend. Advance registration is recommended, as space may be limited.
