Moose checking out Wapiti at Annex Park
The City of Fernie this morning (August 7) issued an alert of the presence a cow moose and calves in a city park set to host a busy weekend.
The moose and her calves have been spotted along the dike near Annex Park, site of this weekend’s Wapiti Music Festival (August 7 and 8).
“Bylaw Services is working with Conservation Officers to monitor the situation. Dangerous Animal in Area signs have been posted along the dike trail. Please avoid the area and give the animals space to reduce the chances of any conflict,” the city advised on social media.
“If you’re heading to Wapiti tonight, please use alternate routes to access the event. Thank you for helping to keep people and wildlife safe.”
