Cute and super simple DIY project
By Anne Davis
Mason jars are inexpensive and pretty much everyone has at least one of them kicking around the house. Why not use one as a pretty liquid soap or hand cream dispenser?
All you need for this project is a mason jar, plastic pump (a used up plastic soap dispenser would be a perfect choice!) a lid, drill or hammer, glue gun or silicone caulking (optional) and needle nose pliers.
Make a hole in the center of your lid, either with a hammer and large nail or a drill. Widen the hole using needle nose pliers until the channel of the pump you will be using fits snugly in the hole. Pop the pump into place and secure underneath with a bead of glue or silicone caulking (if the fit is really snug, you can skip this step). This bead will also help to prevent the lid from rusting. For an extra special touch, paint the outside of your jar using a spray paint in the colour of your choice. Spray paint the lid to match the pump to give it a more cohesive look. Spray paints come in a wide variety of colours and textures, so let your creativity flow!
Make extras for your friends, family, as hostess gifts or sell a few – the possibilities are endless!
Happy creating!
