Work proceeding on schedule east of Golden

Traffic will begin lightening up a bit on Highway 93 through Kootenay National Park and Highway 95 from Radium Hot Springs to Golden as work proceeds on Highway 1 four km east of Golden.

The Trans-Canada Highway will be re-opened intermittently beginning Friday, May 14 at noon.

The following is the planned schedule from Friday to May 24.

Saturday, May 15 – 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. single lane alternating traffic.

Saturday, May 15 – 10 p.m. to Sunday, May 16 at 7 a.m. CLOSED.

Sunday, May 16 – 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. – single lane alternating traffic.

Sunday, May 16 – 10 p.m. to Monday, May 17 at 5 a.m. CLOSED. **OPEN for 2.5 hours Monday, May 17, 5 -7:30 a.m.

Monday, May 17 – 7:30 a.m. to Friday, May 21, noon CLOSED.

Friday, May 21 noon to Tuesday, May 24 noon OPEN.

During closures, eastbound traffic will turn south on Highway 95 at Golden. Westbound traffic destined for Golden and beyond will turn south on Hwy 93 at Castle Junction, Alberta.

This will add up to 90 minutes travel time. (Westbound traffic headed for Lake Louise, Field and Beaverfoot can continue on Hwy 1).
